PALO ALTO, CA – March 13, 2024 – The National Youth for Sustainable Fashion (NYSF) is thrilled to announce that our documentary, "Threads of Change," has won first prize in the West region at the 2024 C-SPAN StudentCam competition. The film, produced by Brendan Giang, Emily Tang, and Max Reiter, students at Palo Alto Senior High School, explores the environmental and social impacts of the fast fashion industry.
“Threads of Change” delves into the critical issues surrounding fast fashion, highlighting the importance of sustainability in the apparel industry. The documentary not only presents a compelling narrative but also encourages viewers to reconsider their fashion choices and their impact on the planet. The film's success at the StudentCam competition underscores the growing importance of sustainability among today's youth.
As part of the prize, “Threads of Change” will be broadcast on C-SPAN on April 20, 2024, at 6:50 a.m. ET and throughout the day. This national exposure will help spread the film’s important message to a broader audience, inspiring more people to join the movement towards sustainable fashion.
The C-SPAN StudentCam competition, now in its 20th year, received over 1,600 entries from students across 42 states and Washington, D.C. The competition challenges students to create documentaries on topics that matter most to them, and we are honored that *“Threads of Change”* was recognized among so many outstanding entries.
